Since The Quest Alliance is located in suburban Salt Lake City, UTAH, we are an obvious choice to provide a Utah company, division, or plant with consulting and training services in Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, Experimental Design and Business Performance Improvement in general. Our proximity to Ogden, (Weber and Davis Counties), Salt Lake City (Salt Lake County), and Provo, Orem, Lindon, and Springville (Utah County) allows us to serve Utah-based companies at lower costs. Furthermore, since Salt Lake City International Airport is a major airport, travel to client's locations in other states is easy and convenient.
The Quest Alliance, Inc. was formed in 2001 by Dr. Ray L. Littlejohn who, for the 13 years prior to 2001 was a Senior Staff Associate with Luftig and Warren, International.
Upon leaving Luftig and Warren International, Dr. Littlejohn consulted with numerous colleagues, associates and other alliance members to formalize the substantive technical knowledge base of the organization. This technical knowledge base is an aggregation of both basic and advanced, generic and proprietary quality improvement tools, techniques and strategies integrated into a system we call BISS, Business Improvement Systems and Strategies. The components of BISS are employed in a systematic manner intended to assure that a company is
- identifying and eliminating problems which are obstructing profitability
- improving executional effectiveness
- increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty
- decreasing waste and defects
What is Business Improvement Systems and Strategies anyway?
BISS has two integrated components, BPA and BPI:
- BPA-Business Performance Analysis. BPA is an aggregation of a set of sophisticated tools used for process analysis, and as an analysis tool, its purpose is to
- diagnostically assess the Business Systems and the Management Effectiveness of client companies to detect deficiencies and problems
- identify threatening events facing the company and assuring that the company has knowledge and systems in place to assure the company is robust enough to withstand these threats
- BPI-Business Performance Improvement. BPI is a set of tools and methodologies that are used to assure that the organization can make desirable (targeted) improvement. (By improvement we mean to create a desirable change in state and/or performance in a direction toward a goal or objective. Or, put another way, to reduce the gap between current performance and desired performance.)
BPA is Preventative, where as BPI is more Redemptive in nature. It is noted, however, that BPI can be effectively used both pro-actively (according to plan and deployment) and re-actively (to solve problems).
The numerous tools and techniques that make up the entire BISS System are used by The Quest Alliance to facilitate our client's journey to success and profitability. All companies have the need to survive, and survival is dependent upon an organization's ability to do many things, not the least of which are to
- identify and ward off threats (prevent threats from adversely affecting the operating performance and profitability of the company
- identify and solve problems preventing the organization from being successful
- understand and exceed customer needs, wants, and requirements with regard to Quality, Cost and Delivery, minimally
- plan and execute effectively relative to both business and customer based requirements
At The Quest Alliance, we facilitate our client's Quest for Success (and Survival) by providing them with both training and consulting services in the tools, techniques, and strategies of Business Improvement. Although all organizations have the need to survive, not all organizations are equipped with the tools, techniques and systems to assure that survival. It is this void in an organization's capability (the lack of familiarity with and the inability to effectively implement the use of advanced Business Improvement Systems and Strategies, BISS, to assure business success), that The Quest Alliance fills for its clients.
The Quest Alliance is also a premier provider of Six Sigma (Champion, Black Belt, Green Belt, and Master Black Belt) and Lean Six Sigma training and consulting. Indeed, the BISS model described above integrates the traditional Six Sigma Improvement Methodology, Tools and Techniques into it. This is not intended to minimize the Six Sigma methodology or to elevate BISS above, or to propose it as a replacement for, Six Sigma. Rather, Six Sigma is an integral part of BISS.
